Leading specialist UK leisure property agency, Shelley Sandzer, acted in a deal that has seen The Office Group (TOG) launch a partnership with celebrity chef and author, Luke Thomas.
The new café concept covers 1,700 sq ft on the ground floor of Tintagel House, TOG’s 95,000 sq ft flagship developmentlocated on Albert Embankment in Vauxhall. The building, which was previously occupied by the Metropolitan police for half a century, has been majorly refurbished by architects, Stanton Williams, and architecture and interior design practise, Universal Design Studio. The new concept is an all-day restaurant with a grab-and-go offer.
Luke Thomas at the age of 18 became the youngest head chef in the UK when he headed up a restaurant at Sanctum on the Green hotel in Cookham. Alongside work placements at Michelin star restaurants such as The Fat Duck, Luke has appeared on various television programme including Junior MasterChef, Great British Menu, and a biographical BBC Three documentary titled ‘Britain’s Youngest Chef’. The new restaurant at Tintagel House is the chef’s first standalone restaurant in London.
This follows Shelley Sandzer’s previous work with TOG, having secured Granger & Co inKings Cross and The Department of Coffee and Social affairs at their 30,000 sq ft work space at 133 Whitechapel High Street.
Commenting on the deal, Tony Levine, high-street leasing agent at Shelley Sandzer, said: “Continuing our strong relationship with The Office Group allowed us to fully utilise our expertise and personal approach in finding the very best in the industry. Securing aspiring chef Luke Thomas for this prime opportunity was driven by The Office Group’s desire to find someone totally unique for the space, and it’s great to see how well the café concept has already been received. Given its great location there were many established operators in the running but choosing a chef with a real point of difference brings added appeal and ensures delivery of the very best dining experience for the people who will be using Tintagel House.”
The signing follows the announcement that Shelley Sandzer secured the European debut site for authentic Taiwanese restaurant chain, Din Tai Fung, at 5-6 Henrietta Street in the heart of Covent Garden. The new London flagship restaurant is due to open in the first week of December.
