With open arms: Shaftesbury Capital welcomes relaunched pub to Soho
Shaftesbury Capital has announced that beloved gastropub, The Shaston Arms, has officially relaunched within the Soho neighbourhood, under a new, independent management team.
Located at 4–6 Ganton Street, The Shaston Arms has been a part of Soho since 1999, and under new management has undergone a refurbishment, evolving to match the increased demand for elevated customer experiences. The Soho institution is being operated by the award-winning team behind The Waterman’s Arms in South West London, led by hospitality entrepreneur Joe Grossmann. Sam Andrews joins Grossmann in crafting the food menu, making his return to Soho having previously held the position of head chef at Ducksoup.
The Shaston Arms will lead with its pub offer as before, incorporating 35 covers for an additional, elevated dining experience. The menu includes fennel with smoked cod’s roe, merguez frites baguette, celeriac fritter with leek vinaigrette, steak with beef lardons, and a Sunday menu.
Emma Matus, Head of Restaurant Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, said: “We know that The Shaston Arms is a key social hub within the Soho neighbourhood, so it was vital we partnered with the right team. Having worked with Joe previously we were confident he would put his mark on the pub to ensure it reached its full potential, whilst maintaining the same electric atmosphere that patrons know and love. His team have a stellar reputation and undisputed expertise in the industry, and we know that The Shaston Arms is in great hands.”
Joe Grossmann added: “The Waterman’s Arms has been so well received since we revitalised it a few years ago, and we’re looking to bring that same love for this iconic Soho spot. The Shaston Arms is something that’s very close to my heart, from drinking there in the original Pitt Cue days! It is a beloved venue that we have the opportunity to evolve. With a real focus on experience and great hospitality, we’re honouring the pub’s iconic history, whilst putting our stamp on it.”
This news follows the recent announcement of a series of hospitality signings and openings in Soho, ahead of Christmas. This notably includes the openings of smash burger concept, Heard, and Northern-Spanish-inspired concept, ALTA, the new additions tailored to the neighbourhood’s unparalleled catchment of workers, domestic and international tourists, and locals.
