Sri Lankan street food concept ADOH! to debut in Shaftesbury Capital’s Covent Garden
Shaftesbury Capital has announced that ADOH!, a new Sri Lankan street food concept from the founders of Kolamba, is to open in Covent Garden this summer. Building on Kolamba’s success, which debuted on Shaftesbury Capital’s Kingly Street, ADOH! will draw inspiration from the sounds, colours and flavours of Sri Lanka’s vibrant streets. The signing reemphasises Covent Garden’s appeal for renowned operators to open dynamic new concepts and bolsters its position as a culinary hub for the capital.
Opening at 36 Maiden Lane, ADOH! is named after a popular Sri Lankan exclamation used in greeting or surprise. The new concept will complement Covent Garden’s diverse dining offer, capturing the vibrancy of Sri Lankan street food culture with a menu of comforting favourites, designed for quick, hearty eating. Central to its menu will be kothu, a dish of chopped roti, vegetables, and eggs, tossed together on a grill and finished with curry sauce. Designed for casual dining, ADOH! will be walk-in only with 70 covers inside and a further 12 outside, featuring decor inspired by the vibrant visual language of traditional Sri Lankan and the energy of the island’s street culture, mixing raw functionality, sun-faded colours and layered nostalgia.
The signing reiterates Covent Garden’s position as the go-to for experienced operators to debut unique concepts and will add to the destination’s host of first-rate restaurants, neighbouring the likes of Ave Mario, Cinnamon Bazaar, Flat Iron, Sticks’n’Sushi, SUSHISAMBA, thirty7, and The Oystermen.
Emma Matus, Head of Restaurant Leasing at Shaftesbury Capital, commented: “The diversification of Covent Garden’s F&B line-up continues with another standout signing in ADOH!, which will deliver the theatre of Sri Lankan street food to the centre of London’s theatre scene. Founded by the team behind ever-popular Kolamba, who we welcomed to Kingly Street in 2019, ADOH!’s signing will perfectly complement our unrivalled culinary offer.”
Eroshan Meewella, Co-Founder of ADOH!, added: “We’re excited to be honouring the food stories from our home country and bring another aspect of our culinary heritage to the heart of London’s dining scene in Covent Garden. ADOH! will celebrate Sri Lankan street food at its finest, from fried rice, to small bites on the beach in Colombo, and of course, the theatre of kothu making.”
The signing follows the recent announcement that modern Indian restaurant Kricket is to open a new site in the heart of Covent Garden’s Seven Dials, in the iconic Neal’s Yard. The space will offer a vibrant blend of Indian-inspired flavours for over 130 diners across 4,000 sq ft.
