Shelley Sandzer secures second site for state-of-the-art concept, The Font

Leading specialist UK leisure and property agency, Shelley Sandzer, has secured a second site for The Font, the indoor climbing gym brand that combines world-class bouldering, functional fitness, and social spaces. This new site forms part of the brand’s ambitious expansion plans to open further sites across the capital.

The Font’s second site, The Font Borough, will be located near London Bridge and will occupy a 6,726 sq ft unit comprising of state-of-the-art climbing walls and a functional fitness gym running a range of classes to improve strength, flexibility, and mobility. The new space will also deliver a 360-degree offer to visitors, with coffee courtesy of The Font’s neighbours, 92 Degrees, craft beers and food available from local dark kitchens.

The Font opened its first site in Wandsworth in April 2021; the first of its kind to maximise performance through a range of fitness types, centred around a ‘climb, train and connect’ ethos. Boasting a distinctive and unique offer, The Font is working closely with Shelley Sandzer to secure several new sites, with more set to open in London over the next few months.

Joey Powis, Co-Founder and Managing Director of The Font, commented on the new site: “We’re really excited to be taking our concept to a new area of London. The Font Wandsworth has been well-received, and we are confident that this is the time to begin our expansion to further sites in the capital, allowing more people to experience our one-of-a-kind proposition. Fitness is important, but we’ve tried to balance it out with other leisure elements – good food and effective social space to connect with others.”

Richard Thomas, Director of Agency at Shelley Sandzer, added: “We’ve seen how important a role leisure has played in the property industry over the last year and we’ve seen many concepts flourish as demand has steadily increased from consumers. The Font is like no other operator out there; they combine functional fitness and social experience seamlessly, and we really think they provide an offer that will take off in London. With our knowledge and expertise at Shelley Sandzer, we are committed to seeking the best locations for this brilliant concept, and we’re looking forward to playing a vital role in The Font’s future within the capital.”

This announcement follows the news that Shelley Sandzer has secured two dessert concepts for Wardour Street – Acai Berry and Cocomelt London – forming part of Shelley Sandzer’s strategy in securing sites for new and emerging concepts entering the UK, demonstrating the importance of the capital’s F&B scene.
