Hawley Wharf Camden 'highlights' its beauty & wellness offering with Butchers Salon signing

Leading London property investment company, LabTech, has announced the signing of eco-conscious salon and spa group, Butchers Salon, at Hawley Wharf Camden, the emerging 580,000 sq ft mixed-use canal-side development.

Comprising 1,175 sq ft with 10 hairdressing and styling chairs, Butchers Salon will be the brand’s third location in London, located on the ground floor of LabTech’s Hawley Wharf Camden development and joining existing sites in Hoxton and Shoreditch.

Butchers Salon’s latest site will encompass the finest techniques in eco-friendly and ethical hair styling and care, with gender-neutral pricing as well as cruelty-free, plant-based products from renowned natural haircare brand Aveda.

The brand was founded by friends Susannah Richardson and Katie Knox in 2014, with the aim of creating an unpretentious environment focused on sustainability and wellness. Butchers Salon crafts venues out of wood and raw recycled materials wherever possible, and also supports the local communities in which they operate, through events such as mindfulness workshops, charity evenings, pilates and yoga classes, and sustainability talks. When visiting Butchers Salon Camden, patrons will be offered a complimentary stress relieving massage or chakra balancing ritual, emphasising the brand’s wellness-focus.

Commenting on the signing, Jonny Perkins, Retail Asset Manager at LabTech said: “At Hawley Wharf Camden, we are creating a complete London destination, an independent eco-system designed to offer Londoners the opportunity to live, work and play. The beauty and wellness industry remains one of the fastest growing sectors, and our signing with Butchers Salon’s is on trend in that regard, and consistent with the approach Camden takes in supporting independent brands.”

Susannah Richardson and Katie Knox, Co-founders of Butchers Salon, added: “We are thrilled to be launching our latest salon within the dynamic Hawley Wharf Camden, positioning us right in the beating heart of Camden. Since our initial opening in Shoreditch in May 2014, our business has grown from strength-to-strength and we are proud to now be bringing our unique brand of ethical and eco-conscious salon care to Hawley Wharf Camden, an iconic development that opens the door to a brand-new North London audience.”

This announcement follows the signing of independent cinema group, Curzon, to Hawley Wharf Camden, with the brand taking 6,000 sq ft of space spanning eight of Camden’s 30 historic railway arches, set to launch later this year.

Bordered by Chalk Farm Road to the west and Regent’s Canal to the east, with a prime frontage on Camden High Street, Hawley Wharf Camden’s canal-side development is set to be a major attraction in North London, serving Camden’s 30 million visitors a year, equivalent to around 80,000 visitors every day prior to lockdown.
