St. David's tributes tradition with limited edition figure

The St David’s Partnership, owners of St David’s in Cardiff, has unveiled a special collectible figure, as part of the destination’s celebration of St David’s Day. The exclusively commissioned figure, made using real LEGO® pieces, is a mini replica of the Welsh Lady traditional dress, which has been a Welsh icon since the 1830s.

The destination is offering its customers the chance to win one of only 300 of the special Welsh Lady mini figures. Customers can visit the St David’s website [https://stdavidscardiff.com/] to enter the competition throughout March, with winners to be chosen and contacted by the centre team at the end of the month.

The 2021 St David’s celebratory figure follows the success of the 2020 Mini Welsh Legends collection that included Gareth Bale, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Ruth Jones as Gavin and Stacey’s ‘Nessa’, and Gareth Thomas, which sold out in under 30 minutes. The month-long figurine competition also positions St David’s as a Welsh institution, that has respect and understanding for its community.

Speaking on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, James Waugh, Centre Director at St David’s Cardiff, said: “Following the outstanding success of our Welsh Mini Legends collection, we are very pleased to be bringing back the concept this year in the form of the quintessential Welsh lady. The collectable figure campaign strengthens our position as a central point within Cardiff and wider Welsh community, and encourages a sense of comradery amongst competition entrants and St David’s customers.

“We hope this year’s St David’s figures will also foster a sense of pride and nostalgia, and will raise a smile during these difficult times. We wish all entrants the very best of luck in their quest to win their very own Welsh Lady figure.”

This announcement follows news that Danish premium lifestyle and furniture brand BoConcept has signed at St David’s, and Japanese-inspired lifestyle retailer MINISO has launched its first UK store outside London at the destination, the first step in its national expansion plans.
