Liverpool ONE supports world book day

On Thursday 5 March, Liverpool ONE, managed by Grosvenor Europe, celebrated the world’s biggest celebration of books and reading for pleasure, World Book Day, by filling the streets of the destination with hundreds of free novels.

In collaboration with the local book organisation, The Book Fairies, Liverpool ONE encouraged visitors to discover a new story or pick up their favourite tale with more than 200 books available freely to take home and read.

A mixture of children’s favourites and modern classics, such as Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven; C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia; and The Hours by Michael Cunningham were placed across Liverpool ONE. A number of retailers, including Costa, Hotel Chocolat, The Club House and Arket participated in the campaign to house books, as well as the Sugar House Steps and various benches, with supplies replenished throughout the day.

Alison Clegg, Director, Asset Management, Grosvenor Europe commented: “This initiative for World Book Day is yet another example of our investment towards visitor engagement and a depth of experience at Liverpool ONE. By joining forces with The Book Fairies, we’ve been able to facilitate meaningful interaction with people of all ages, while also creating an opportunity for our retailers to drive awareness.”

This news follows the announcement of the popular interactive Dinosaurs Unleashed augmented reality app returning to Liverpool ONE for its second year over Easter, running from 2nd April – 10th May. Developed by Red Frog Digital, visitors can hunt for, train and feed prehistoric creatures, while new additions to the experience include a golden egg hunt, virtual battle arena with a real-time leader board, and an exciting underwater element.
