Grosvenor Europe, one of four operating companies of the privately-owned international property group, Grosvenor Group, and Thai Leisure Group (TLG), the operator of restaurant brands Thaikhun and Chaophraya, today announced the launch of Thaikhun Street Bar, Liverpool ONE, the first of its kind.
Opening in early October, the 3,000 sq ft bar will be situated next to Chaophraya, its contemporary Thai dining restaurant overlooking Chavasse Park – a prominent location within Liverpool ONE. The design plans for the new opening pays homage to its Thai roots – the bar’s vibrant décor will recreate a traditional Thai street scene, incorporating bric-a-brac, a tuk-tuk and specially selected artefacts, all imported directly from Thailand to create a memorable social experience.
The new concept will serve a menu of upmarket cocktails using select Thai spirits, Singha draught beers, frozen alcoholic cocktails, as well as a non-alcoholic menu including a selection of ice-cream smoothies. The new site will also offer traditional Thai bar snacks and bowls, including pad Thai and chicken satay skewers.
The bar will also host a number of weekend entertainment events, including live music nights and DJ sets.
Kim Kaewkraikhot, founder of Thai Leisure Group, said: “As the first project of its kind, the brand-new bar concept is very exciting for us all. Offering unique Thai experiences is something we’re hugely passionate about and with this fantastic offer, I have no doubt it will succeed.
“Liverpool ONE’s wide range of bars and dining experiences is one of the most comprehensive and compelling in the UK, which made it an easy decision for us to open our very first Thaikhun Street Bar in Liverpool. It demonstrates our continued commitment to be at the forefront of the hospitality sector.”
Alison Clegg, Director, Asset Management, Grosvenor Europe, said: “TLG’s proven success of operations at Liverpool ONE with its existing restaurant, Chaophraya, and the quality of the new concept, makes the new Thaikhun Street Bar a very welcome addition.
“Their ability to pull together a winning offer and also their willingness to adapt the model to bring something new to Liverpool ONE, sets them apart from the crowd. We are looking forward to the opening and providing even more choice than ever before, which will appeal to residents, workers and visitors alike.”

About Thai Leisure Group
The Thai Leisure Group is a group of restaurants and bars that is owned jointly by Kim Kaewkraikhot and Martin Stead. The Thai Leisure Group currently owns and operates ‘Chaophraya’ and ‘Thaikhun’, a successful group of restaurants recognised and valued nationwide.
Kim started off cooking food on the streets of Bangkok and eventually opened up her own small restaurant in the city. Kim’s food was renowned in the local neighbourhood for its fantastic flavours and people would travel many miles to taste it. Her recipes, including her secret Pad Thai recipe, became so famous Kim went on to win awards back in her native Thailand.
When Martin, a UK entrepreneur, met Kim a vision was born: to bring authentic Thai cuisine and genuine Thai hospitality to the UK. The couple’s first restaurant opened in Leeds in 2004, and today TLG has 18 Thai restaurants across the north of England and Scotland across the UK’s major cities: Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Aberdeen.
Last year, its Thaikhun brand received an Eat Out award for the research and innovation involved in its new children’s offer.
