Meet the team
Nick Thornton began his career at Burson-Marsteller and has over 20 years’ experience in the property sector and place making. Nick has worked on leading destinations around the world, including the Far East, Middle East and continental Europe. In the UK, Nick has helped build destination brands such as Bluewater and Liverpool ONE, the former working as in-house marketing manager for developer, Lendlease, during construction. Nick launched Aver in 2012 and the consultancy has built a reputation for providing effective strategic advice and implementation aligned to clients’ business objectives. Nick advises on strategic direction and messaging, as well as undertaking special projects that complement Aver’s retained work. Outside work, Nick’s time is dedicated to his family and Land Rovers
With nearly 17 years’ experience, Amy has worked within both the trade and consumer sectors leading on international and national fashion, beauty and retail campaigns for brands such as Calvin Klein, Puma, Sky HD and Samsonite. She now leads the team and works with clients to develop strategy, leverage feature opportunities within the B2B sector. She is a secret lover of Espresso Martini’s and loves to travel and experience new music festivals (when work allows…).
Senior Account Director
With a background in consumer and corporate retail PR, and journalism experience, Amanda has worked within the industry for over 10 years. From big brands to emerging start-ups Amanda has advised and executed award winning campaigns for her clients. Keen on health and fitness, you’re likely to find Amanda flying high stunt trampolining having performed in a west end show, or on the search for weird and wonderful ice cream flavours as a gelato aficionado.
Senior Account Manager
With over six years of industry experience within PR and comms, she has spent time in-house and agency side working for a range of high profile corporate and consumer brands, including Landsec, OnTheMarket.com, Royal Caribbean International, Avios and DHL Express. As a Londoner based in the Docklands (and a PR socialite), she is always on the lookout to discover new places to wine and dine or see a West End show.
Starting her career at an integrated Clemenger Group agency in Melbourne, Clare has worked within the PR and communications industry for over five years, across a range of consumer and B2B accounts such as Dulux and REA Group. Making the move to London in 2017, she then honed her copywriting skills at global luxury retailers Matches Fashion and Net-a-Porter. You’re likely to find Clare enjoying a coffee, playing the piano, or explaining weird Australianisms to the team.
Daniel joined Aver in June 2019, bringing three years’ experience of planning and development PR, supporting national housebuilders, strategic landowners, retailers, and public bodies with political and stakeholder engagement. He is a keen cook and once owned a start-up food business, but now just trials new recipes on friends and family (though it is really for Instagram). Daniel also begrudgingly holds two Arsenal season tickets.
With experience in brand ambassadorship, Jack caught the flavour for media writing as a social media and marketing editor at The Tab Liverpool whilst at university. He has a degree in English and uses this experience for all things PR. Jack has adopted a phone voice and is an Earl Grey connoisseur.
Harriet joined the team with a background in creative advertising, after a stint in charity advertising, retail strategy led her to Aver and she is now living out her PR fairytale. Child star of Grand Designs, when she isn’t snacking, Harriet can be found nagging Nick for an office dog.
